Since 1998, SAS has operated a college based Student Assistance Program on two very different college campuses in Westchester County. The College Program is based on the Student Assistance Program (see school based services). Masters level substance abuse counselors meet with students individually and/or in groups. Students may be referred to the counselor, or they may self refer. Students seen in the program generally fall into one of four categories:

  • Students experiencing problems with alcohol or other drugs
  • Students involved with someone who is experiencing problems with alcohol or other drugs
  • Students who come from a family where alcohol and/or other drug use was a problem
  • Students seeking to achieve or maintain sobriety

Counselors also provide training and technical assistance for college faculty and professional staff, conduct awareness campaigns, and offer educational programming.
